Hit with homesickness

every once in a while, homesickness over takes me. I miss, of course, my family and friends but I also miss Texas in general. Watching Friday Night Lights on Sunday evenings helps get a slice of home. That usually helps. But for some reason this past Sunday that didn't quite do the trick. So, I headed to Texas Burger for a juicy burger and fries. The place has all kinds of Texas-related stuff decorating the place. Felt better after my burger.

The land of the organized

One very prevalent trait here I've noticed is well, it's organized. On a lot of different levels/situations/setups, it's highly organized. Even our office supplies at work are button-down organized. This is a typical office supply shelf and they are all so perfect (who knows how many of these shelves there are at work, I would guess hundreds). For a person whose general approach in life is semi-unorganized, fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants, it's been a "growth" area for me.

The light hit just right

Had high tea with a friend this past weekend which was delightful. The name of the place was Chaikhana and it was really nice. I was sitting waiting to be served and the sun came streaming into the restaurant. It really made the restaurant look beautiful. This picture doesn't do it justice but thought I would try to share it.

A country of sunflowers

I've had a couple of people tell me that people here are like sunflowers, they come out when the sun is out. Think I've become one as well. Whenever the sun is out, I take every chance I can to get out in it. Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous and several were out just sitting out in it soaking it up.
